This UWL SummerStage production required especially creative scheduling in order to fit such a dance heavy show into our abbreviated rehearsal time. Working in multiple spaces each day was the norm for several weeks.
To be sure all notes were captured and disseminated in the nightly rehearsal report, I did some additional, advance mentoring with my student assistants so they could be self-sufficient and extra observant--especially when our divided rehearsals were in multiple buildings.
Chicago remounted during the first week of Fall semester. I worked with the student dance captain to schedule a dance specific rehearsal ahead of our "reminder" technical rehearsals, stripping the audio out of a summer rehearsal with the band so the cast could brush up on choreography listening to our exact pace and orchestration.
One of my favorite parts of the show was the top of "Cell Block Tango," a cue sequence so fast that I had to memorize it because looking at a script page would slow me down. (I can still call it to this day!)
